ATM Scam Alert

September 21, 2009

Police have warned in recent weeks that skimming devices have been placed on ATMs at local financial institutions. A skimming device will retrieve information once the card has been swiped that allows them to get a duplicate card or access account information.

The device can be difficult to spot. It usually fits snug over the front of the ATM, appearing as though it is part of the machine. In some cases, a small camera or other device has been placed over the ATM key-pad to get a pin number.

Members should monitor their accounts on a regular basis for any unauthorized activity and contact Extra Credit Union at (586) 276-3000 should they see anything suspicious.
