![]() Online Banking Fraud AttemptJanuary 14, 2010
It has come to our attention that members have received unauthorized pop-up windows while logged in to online banking. The pop-up warns about identity theft and prompts the user to complete a “2010 ThreatAssessment”.This is fairly ironic, as the window itself is likely an identity theft tool.
If you experience this pop-up, do not enter in any data, re-start your computer immediately, then run a virus scan to confirm your PC has not been infected with an unwanted virus and alert Extra Credit Union to the occurrence. We have contacted the proper authorities to get the fraudulent pop-up site shut down so this issue may be resolved ASAP. Be advised that this pop-up does not threaten the security of your account, so long as you do not interact with it.
PLEASE REMEMBER: Extra Credit Union will NEVER authorize pop-up windows in online banking! As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us at (586) 276-3000. << Back to Alerts |
