Mittens for Kids Drive Success
Hundreds of homeless students in Macomb County and their families will greatly benefit from the warmth and generosity of Extra Credit Union’s staff and members who graciously raised $1,305 and 664 cold-weather/personal-care items for the Macomb Intermediate School District’s Education Project for Homeless Children and Youth.
The district has registered 1,181 children and youth as homeless in Macomb County so far this school year. Cold-weather and personal-care items collected for the project include hats, scarves, gloves/mittens, socks, toiletries and more. Last school year ended with 1,597 identified homeless students—and this year’s number is anticipated to remain the same or even increase.
The project assists students and their families while they are temporarily between homes by providing them with useful daily items and necessities, as well as plugging them in to community resources where they can obtain additional assistance.
Thank you to all who made a donation benefitting the project and homeless students in Macomb County. You have made a real difference!Go to main navigation
