Nothing is stopping us from lending to you. Our goal is to help everyone in the community find success.
We do not believe in limitations, whether it is a poor economy, a financial downturn, or a loss. We aim to remove all apprehensions, negativity, and fear from the financial process. We relieve you of your burdens, help you come up with solutions, plan to budget and pay less for everyday expenses, guide you to better credit, and offer you financial opportunities that will brighten your future.
A small group of educators with $856 in assets founded Extra Credit Union in 1954. The teachers actually operated the credit union in an unused high school classroom. Through a commitment to education, community and service, Extra Credit Union grew, and today has more than 19,000 members and $322 million in assets.
Extra Credit Union is known for its heart to serve by offering help, guidance, counsel, and programs for the entire community. We operate a full-service branch at our state-of-the-art headquarters in Warren.
As the only credit union in Southeast Michigan to offer a certified K-12 financial curriculum, we provide hands-on learning, financial fundamentals, and customized services to help students make good financial decisions now for a brighter financial future. Your membership helps support essential school programs and services for teachers.
We invite you to enjoy the benefits of genuine, personal attention, a true desire to see you succeed, and superior products and services tailored to your life, needs, and financial goals. Apply for membership today and experience the Extra Credit Union difference.
Unlike those who serve on boards of commercial banks, our volunteer board is elected by Extra Credit Union members to represent the interests of all members — that includes you. These dedicated area residents have a strong interest in the local community and guide Extra Credit Union in making tough decisions, serving the community well, and guiding our staff members in doing the right thing.
