Grade: 9 (Hourly, Non-Exempt)

Role

To preserve the Credit Union’s assets by performing duties and procedures to assist in the timely collection of accounts. Identify solutions through finding the member’s motivation. Work closely with the Payment Solutions and Lending Teams to control delinquencies and charge-offs and to recover collateral. Make timely recommendations regarding repossessions and foreclosures; prepare and send legal requests to the attorney. Make decisions on repayment plans, account questions, and repossessions. Provide
support and coaching to the Payment Solutions Team, as needed.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Contact delinquent accounts by phone, email, mail, text, and in person. Take appropriate action to bring accounts current. Monitor assigned collection queues, update notes, and
research accounts, as required.

Inform management of trends in loan underwriting contributing to delinquent/charge-off loans.

Make decisions in the manager’s absence as they relate to collections and repossessions.

Provide instruction and coaching to the Team, as needed.

Maintain accurate files and reports on all collection activity.

Analyze financial situations of delinquent borrowers; make recommendations to repossess collateral when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful.

Testify at legal proceedings, as required.

Perform other job-related duties, as assigned.

Experience: Three to five years of similar or related experience.
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent.
Interpersonal Skills: Work involves much personal contact with others for the purpose of first-level conflict resolutions, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Other Skills: Incumbent must comply with job-related regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering, USA Patriot Act, OFAC, and Fair Lending Regulations.
